I keep croissants in the freezer and pull them out as needed – bunging them straight in the oven – so I rarely have to bin any.
The bad news: if they are left out, croissants do go stale quickly.
The good news: if you do end up with stale croissants, don’t throw them out because they make a delicious bread and butter pudding (traditional recipe here)!
Tear into pieces and substitute for regular bread. Mix some dried fruit into the mixture too. The texture is much lighter and fluffier than a regular bread and butter pud.
